Donald Harrison/Terell Stafford Quintet

November 17-18 with “The King of Nouveau Swing,” saxophonist and actor Donald Harrison (Art Blakey, Miles Davis, Billy Cobham, Notorious BIG, Chicago Symphony Orchestra), will make a rare joint appearance with acclaimed trumpeter Terell Stafford (McCoy Tyner, Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, to form a special quintet for their Mt. Bachelor Riverhouse Jazz performance. New Orleans native Harrison is known for creating a unique jazz genre, “Nouveau Swing,” rooted in the Afro-New Orleans tradition. He is the founder of The New Jazz School, and has won numerous awards of distinction, such as Downbeat’s Alto Saxophonist Poll Winner and France’s Grand Prix du Disque. Stafford, according to McCoy Tyner, is “one of the great players of our time.” He is the Director of Jazz Studies at Temple University and Artistic Director of the Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia.
